We Are the Champions!

Yes that is right, you read it correctly, we are the champions of the first 1/2 of the staff bowling league season. We are now into the 2nd 1/2 of the season and whoever wins the 2nd half will bowl against us, the winners of the first half, for the league champions...that is of course if we don't win the 2nd 1/2 again...then of course we would be crowned the champs. Anyway...the final score was 620 to 547 and we went into the match with pretty much the same handicaps...there was only a difference of 3 so it really was evenly matched and pretty much like we were bowling from scratch...so it was a very good match up that we can easily say we won! Yay us!

The Bowl Off

We have a staff bowling league here at the University and for the last 9 weeks me and 2 other members of the Athletic Dept. Office have been playing in the noon time bowling league. Our team name is "Up Your Alley"...yes I know it is quite catchy. :) Anyway as the first 9 weeks came to an end we ended up being tied for 1st place with the "IT Crowd" so last week the guy that runs it said we have to have a "Bowl Off" to find out who is the winner. First of all I have no idea how we came in tied for first... but I am pretty excited we did. So today at noon we have our official "bowl off" against the "IT Crowd" so wish us luck! Last Wednesday (the league bowls every Wednesday at noon) was the start of our second 9 weeks of bowling and we already won our first game...so we are on our way again to hopefully 1st place...let's just hope we beat that "IT Crowd" today for our 1st official first place title. :) I wonder what we will get for first place?

In other news Hannah continues with wearing underwear. She is doing fantastic and has not had an accident since Thursday at school. I am so very proud of her and she loves to pick out which underwear she will be wearing and tell me that she is going to go on the potty everytime! What a cutie.

Last night Hannah's little friend Sydney came over to play, have dinner and then it was bath time for both of the girls. They had so much fun playing together in the bathtub and since I haven't posted pictures in a long time here are some PG pics of the girls:

An Unfortunate Accident

Hannah's potty training is going really well...well except for one problem. On Tuesday the only accident she had was to fall into the toilet! Now for those of you that know me and my toilet phobia this is a huge issue for me. Luckily I was not there when it happened...she was at school. I came to pick her up and the teacher proudly told me that Hannah did not have one accident, but the seat on their little mini toilet somehow managed to move and Hannah fell backwards into the toilet...ewwwww!! Hannah proceeded to tell me that her kayak shirt she was wearing was "a mess and so dirty". You think so? I was kind of taken aback when the teacher told me this but I just sucked it up b/c I must say I have become much better about toilets since this whole potty training business started. We went home and I told Adam the story and he asks, "Did they clean her up?". Of course they did!! What a silly question...no they just let her air dry. :)
Anyway, yesterday we had no accidents again...of the potty kind or falling into the toilet and so far this morning went well again. Hannah was a little clingying and I walked into daycare with her wrapped around my leg but I managed to pry her off and we said good-bye with only a few tears...those days are so heartbreaking!
By the way yesterday when I picked her up she decided that she wanted Daddy to stay home with her and play and Mommy was going to go to her job...that sucks! I asked if I could play and said no. :( Apparently Daddy plays better then Mommy, but we all knew that since Adam still enjoys watching cartoons.

Days of the Week Underpants

So we did it...on Sunday we put Hannah in underwear and told her everytime she has to go potty she has to do it on the toilet. We had a small collection of underwear already at home but I knew that we would need a bigger collection since I knew we were destine for accidents..which we have had. Anyway, we went to Walmart on Sunday and let Hannah pick out any underwear she wanted. She picked out Dora, princess underwear...which she already had she was just adding to her collection, and some random ones with frogs, butterflies, etc on them. We got home and I stuck them in the washing machine and last night as we were folding her laundry I realized that the princess underwear we bought just recently had the days of the week on each of the 7 different pairs of underwear...too funny! I instantly thought of my favorite movie "When Harry Met Sally" and looked to see if they made Sunday and they do! In case you don't remember Sally use to have days of the week underpants and she broke up with one of her boyfriends b/c he got very curious as to where her "Sunday" panties were and when she told him they don't make Sunday b/c of God he didn't believe her b/c he thought she left them at another guys house so they broke up. Anyway...it made me laugh.
Our potty training has been going fairly well. She seems to get the concept that she has to tell us everytime but then she still has accidents here and there. Well we will see how school goes today. I sent her with lots of extra underwear and clothes. And yes I did put in the Tuesday underwear as a spare b/c Hannah wanted to wear the frog underwear this morning. :)

Finding Nemo

Yesterday Hannah was home sick so Adam and I split the day up and he took the morning shift and I took the afternoon shift. On my shift we started and completed her Disneyland Scrapbook which was a fabulous gift from Tom & Abby. She loved putting the stickers down on the pages but she kept wanting to put them over people's or character's faces. I told her she could put the sticker anywhere she wanted to except on anyone's face. So she started putting them on the shoes...ok whatever.
After that project I asked her if she wanted to watch "Finding Nemo" or "Cars". She chose "Finding Nemo". Now keep in mind Hannah has never sat through a whole movie yet and I didn't think this was going to be the first time but it was! We laid in bed and watched the whole thing! Hannah kept asking about Nemo and his Daddy and finding each other. Many times after a scary scene when the movie would cut somewhere else she would ask "What happened" and about 1/2 through the movie she even started crying "Nemo find Daddy!". It was so sad to see her cry and I assured her that Nemo & his Daddy would find each other we just had to wait. So that is probably why she sat and watched the whole thing, she wanted to make sure that Nemo found his Daddy. This girl is really sensitive when it comes to movies...I have to be real careful with what I pick for her to watch.
She was already better yesterday so it was back to school today for her. I am wondering though if she will be the only toddler there b/c her friend Sydney is still sick and has been for 4 days now and when Adam picked her up on Wednesday there were only 2 other kids there out of the 13 normally. It is pizza Friday today and I joked that she is going to get to eat the whole pizza by herself. :)

In other news I would like to wish Tara a very Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day Tara! :)

Time Out

Yesterday Hannah and I got back from running some errands and I wanted to go take Tulip for a quick walk before it got late. Well Hannah had other plans in mind and had no interest in going on a walk. I told her it would be really quick and that we needed to go. She kept saying no but I pretty much told her we were going...yeah I know I am a mean mom. I did keep trying to sway her by telling her we would be listening and looking for owls since it was dusk. Anyway as we were battling back and forth about going on this walk she tells me "Mommy, you are not listening, I don't want to go, Mommy take a time out not listening". Now keep in mind 98% of her time outs are because the girl is not listening so I wonder where she picked this up from...hmmm? That little rascal! I told her it does not work that way and that Mommy does not get time outs. Eventually she gave in and was perfectly fine on the walk. I think we are going to have our hands full for the next several years. :)

More Conversations with Hannah

Lately my conversations with Hannah have become really interesting. Here is the latest:

Hannah: "Happy Birthday Baloo! Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you!"

Me: "It's Baloo's birthday today? How old is he?"

Hannah: "4. I'm 2."

Me: "How old is Mommy?"

Hannah: "8"

Me: "Really"

Hannah: "Happy Birthday Baloo! I make him a cupcake."

Now keep in mind it has been Baloo's birthday for the past 3 days and each day we sing Happy Birthday to him and Hannah makes him a cupcake. She also keeps mentioning it is her birthday next in October. Hey at least she knows when her birthday is. :)

She also likes to watch Wheel of Fortune or as she calls it the "ABC Show". She also now knows the little ditty chime thing that plays everytime a new puzzle pops up onto the screen. She likes to repeat it right after it comes on...I must say she has it down pretty good.

"I'll be right back"

Hannah puts on my new shoes last night and then we proceed to have this conversation:

Hannah - "I have to go the store, I'll be right back."
Me - "Oh really, what do you have to get at the store?"
Hannah - "Cheese samples. Keys please (as she is attempting to reach up and grab the keys)."
Me - I give her some keys..."What car are you going to take?"
Hannah - "The green one, I'll be right back." Now she is attempting to open the door with the keys I gave her.
Me - "Really, I didn't know we had a green car...is it your car?"
Hannah - "Yeah. Open door please, I'll be right back. I have to go to work."
Me - "Do you work at the store?"
Hannah - "Yeah."

This goes on for a while until I tell her I would rather her not work the night shift considering it is 6:00pm and that when she can work at Nugget I really hope it is the day shift. It also cracked me up that she kept saying she would be right back...apparently we say that a lot. :) Kids say the funniest things and have the greatest imagination...it keeps us laughing.

So how about that weather out there today? Tulip just about died of fear from the hurricane like winds and the rain pelting her like little needles when we were out on our walk this morning. Tulip was pulling so hard that we ended running back to our house and she kept pulling and pulling...I felt like I was being pulled by a sled dog. She is a lucky dog that she gets to stay inside today.
